Cultural Heritage

PBIX acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we work and will engage and co-operate with Traditional Custodians to ensure protection of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage is included as part of our exploration practice.

PBIX’s projects are located on the country of the Ngiyampaa Wangaaypuwan people.  The Ngiyampaa Wangaaypuwan occupied the area when European colonists began to take up vast pastoral runs in the 1860s and were present when the first discovery of copper was made in 1870.

PBIX recognises the significant cultural and historical heritage present across its tenement portfolio and is committed to complying with all applicable heritage laws, statutes and regulations as determined by Australian State and Commonwealth Governments. PBIX will meet its historical and cultural obligations as part of the process of self-regulation and will operate with the spirit and intent of all applicable laws. All requirements concerning historical and cultural sites are to be of prime consideration in all aspects of the operations and will be strictly complied with.

Exploration activities will be conducted in a manner that minimises the impact on significant sites. The Company will liaise actively with government bodies, statutory authorities, local communities and heritage management groups to maintain an open door policy on heritage issues.

All employees and contractors will be educated in relation to their roles and responsibility towards historical and cultural sites.

Environment

PBIX believes that sound environmental management is integral to every aspect and stage of its operations and exploration activities. As a responsible Australian company, PBIX is committed to minimizing any adverse environmental impact of exploration and has developed its environmental and rehabilitation management system to comply with the Exploration Code of Practice: Rehabilitation (Department of Regional NSW, July 2015).

As part of its compliance all exploration activities are designed with serious consideration to the impacts on the community and environment. As part of this system PBIX applies:

  • specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound rehabilitation objectives and completion criteria for activities associated with the exploration activities, developed in consultation with relevant landholders; and
  • If associated with higher risk prospecting operations, a Rehabilitation Management Plan is implemented which provides for the effective rehabilitation of areas disturbed by that activity.

PBIX has developed environmental risk registers for all exploration activities, including rehabilitation checklists and procedures to ensure rehabilitation objectives are met in a timely and efficient manner
